Thompson to Succeed Peterson in Pennsylvania's Fifth Congressional District
State College – The votes have been counted, and a winner declared in Pennsylvania's Fifth Congressional District. Glenn Thompson from the small town of Howard, Centre County, out polled his Democratic rival, Mark McCracken and Jim Fryman, the Libertarian candidate from Venango County in the race to succeed retiring Representative John Peterson, R-Pleasantville. Thompson issued the following statement:
“Back in January when I decided to run for the Congress, I committed myself to a campaign that was focused on the issues. I am proud to have run a positive campaign and extremely honored and humbled to have gained the confidence of the voters of the Fifth Congressional District to serve as their next representative in Washington.”
“As your representative, I won't make any outlandish promises, but I will guarantee you this. I will always put the citizens of this district above politics and will never waver in my support of the men and women that serve our country in uniform.”
“While the challenges are demanding, and the issues facing this country far and wide, I look forward to the opportunity to work for the constituents of the fifth district and welcome the fight that lays ahead.”
“I would be remiss if I didn't thank my opponents, whom I formed a genuine friendship with the past six months, for their spirited debate and issues oriented campaign. To my family, who supported me from day one and endured personal sacrifice. And to my team of volunteers and supporters that believed in my message and offered rock solid support throughout this entire campaign, thank you.”
“I have some big shoes to fill, but I am confident that with your help, and the support of the people of this region, the Fifth District will remain a family values, compassionate community whose best days are yet to come.”
“Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank Congressman John Peterson for his 12 years of service in Washington on behalf of us in Pennsylvania's Fifth District. I also appreciate his confidence in my ability to work on behalf of his constituents and will work as hard as I possibly can, to provide the same superb representation that we have come to expect here in central Pennsylvania.”
The fifth district, which stretches across 17 of Pennsylvania's 63 counties, is the largest Congressional District in Pennsylvania and is the second largest East of the Mississippi River. Congressman John Peterson, who represented the Fifth District for 12 years did not seek re-election.
Thompson Awarded 60 Plus Assoc. Guardian Award
Arlington, VA – Legendary entertainer Pat Boone, spokesman for a national non-partisan senior citizen group, has presented Glenn Thompson with the Association’s Honorary Guardian of Seniors’ Rights award.
Boone, a recording artist, movie and TV star second to none in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, called Thompson a “fighter for the elderly.”
The 60 Plus Association’s Guardian Award is presented to Democrats and Republicans in Congress based on their “senior friendly” voting records. The Honorary Award is given to those running for office and is based on their views on seniors’ issues.
Boone cited Thompson’s support for repealing the 1993 tax imposed by President Clinton on Social Security benefits, as well as Thompson’s support to repeal the 'Death Tax' which hurts small businesses and farmers across Pennsylvania and the country. “Glenn Thompson, running for the U.S. House of Representatives for Pennsylvania's 5th District, knows a bad tax when he sees one,” said Boone, “and the Death Tax is as bad as they come!”
“And to those who call death tax repeal a ‘tax break for the rich,’ or akin to giving a ‘tax break for Paris Hilton,’ I say that’s nonsense, a con job of the first order. In fact, invoking her name is an insult to small businesses and farmers,” said Boone. “Why? Because the rich set up trusts and foundations to protect their assets, and who can blame them? Ever heard of the Kennedy, Heinz, Gates, Turner, Buffett, Winfrey or Rockefeller Foundations, as well as the Hilton Foundation, to name a few?”
Boone continued, “I am pleased to present this award to Glenn Thompson. He is a tax cutter, protecting the pocket books of senior citizens. 60 Plus calls on nearly 5 million seniors for support so I believe I can speak on behalf of seniors when I say that they can count on Glenn Thompson. Clearly, seniors will have no finer friend in Congress than Glenn Thompson.”
Thompson Talks Timber and ANF
St. Mary's – Earlier this week, Glenn Thompson, Republican nominee for Pennsylvania's Fifth Congressional District met with the Allegheny Hardwood Utilization Group (AHUG) to discuss their concerns regarding the timber industry, the Allegheny National Forest (ANF) and to provide his vision to revitalize the forest products industry in Northwestern Pennsylvania.
Thompson, who is an avid sportsman and scout master, has a deep appreciation for the outdoors but also recognizes that in order for our forests to flourish, we need to properly manage and be responsible stewards of the land.
“As the economic engine of Northwestern Pennsylvania, it is vital that the Federal government enact pro-growth policies – which are also environmentally responsible – rather than continue the failed policies of the past that have resulted in the steady decline of the timber industry,” said Thompson. “This year, roughly 20 million board feet will be harvested from the ANF – in the mid 1980's that number was as high as 90 million. This is unacceptable.”
“As the premier hardwood forest in the United States, the ANF yields $5 for every $1 the Federal government invests - making it the most profitable forest in the entire national forest system – yet, the ANF continues to cut services and timber receipts decline annually.”
Created in 1923, and the only national forest in Pennsylvania, the ANF is one of the many treasures of the Fifth Congressional District. From snowmobiling in the winter, to the fishing, hiking and camping in the summer, the ANF is an outdoor paradise that many enjoy. As a multi-use forest that drives the economy of Northwestern Pennsylvania, the ANF also serves as a tremendous energy resource.
“From traditional energy sources like oil and gas, to biomass and wood waste, the ANF is a significant player in the energy business and has the potential to contribute even more, if sound policy is adopted in Washington.”
One of Thompson's first orders of business in Congress would be to introduce legislation repealing a federal statute that prohibits the removal of woody biomass from the forest floors for energy production. This policy – like others – was crafted by radical environmentalists who fail to recognize that the harvesting of timber and the removal of wood waste from the forest floor is sound policy that allows for the forest to naturally rejuvenate.
“With radical environmentalists crafting our energy and forest policies, and bureaucrats in Washington transferring funds out of the ANF to combat wildfires out west, Congress needs to create a dedicated funding stream for forest fires rather than cut annual budgets at the expense of eastern forests – like the ANF. Congress must also bring organizations like AHUG to the table when making decisions that effect our national parks and forests.”
“If I am fortunate to succeed Congressman Peterson as your voice in Washington, I look forward to partnering with AHUG and the oil, gas and timber industries to craft policies that spur growth, protect the natural beauty of the ANF, and expand recreation. By increasing timber receipts and retaining some of that revenue in the ANF, we can create jobs, open new saw mills, and provide relief to school districts that rely heavily on the industry.”
AHUG is committed to expanding the forest products industry and educating the general public about the use timber in everyday products. From paper companies to fine furniture manufacturers, AHUG represents a wide range of companies and serves as a clearinghouse for the industry to share ideas and speak with one voice on regulatory matters. Thompson Reacts to Federal Bailout
Howard – Speaking from his home in Howard, PA, Glenn Thompson, candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania’s Fifth District, today spoke in reaction to the vote to approve the $700 Billion bailout package taken yesterday in the House of Representatives.
“This is a package I could not support,” Thompson said. “I do recognize the threat to our economy this credit crisis presents, but I wanted legislation that would address the root causes of the crisis, and I am not comfortable that this bill does that.”
“I believe we need some acknowledgement of the role government played in bringing this about, the push for no down payment, lower credit score loans to expand home ownership, and the pressure government brought on the credit industry to reach that goal - and, of course, the role the credit industry played, offering mortgages on deceptive terms, concerned more with profit than the ability to repay. I’m not sure this bill prevents either of those things from happening again, and that is what I wanted to see.”
“I do understand why people voted for this. We need to do something. If credit continues to evaporate, all businesses will pay the price and eventually, that means all workers will pay it, too. Without credit, companies close their doors, and that is not good for anyone.”
“And I understand that ‘sweeteners,’ like the Secure Rural Schools money, made this hard to resist. When I look at the situation in Forest County right now, where school districts may close because of the lack of both federal and state support, I am heartened that, at least, this bill addresses that situation.”
“But in the end, I am afraid that taxpayers may very well bear the cost of fixing a problem they did not cause, and that while this bill may help to stabilize the markets, it still may not be enough to get the economy moving again.”
“In the end, my goal is to get the economy moving. We have too many people who have lost the equity in their homes and are now facing massive losses in their personal and company retirement accounts. The way to fix this is to see the economy grow again, and that means allowing private enterprise to thrive, and private citizens to invest.”
“If I am able to earn the right to be your next Congressman, that is the agenda I will take with me. I have far more faith in Main Street than I do in Wall Street, like many in Washington; but I also have far more faith in Main Street than I do in Pennsylvania Avenue. People thrive when government stays out of their way.”
Thompson Addresses Healthcare
Bellefonte – After touring Titusville Hospital and meeting with its chief executive, Glenn Thompson, candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania's Fifth District, used the occasion to address the issue of healthcare in America.
“I have now had the rare privilege of touring almost every hospital in the Fifth District and meeting with physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals from every corner of the District. I have also spent my own career in the healthcare field and, of course, I recognize the importance of this issue in America today.”
“I believe that we are facing a crisis in healthcare affordability, but I do not believe that we have a crisis in healthcare itself. That is an important distinction to make.”
“The more I learn and the more I see, the more convinced I am that our country has one of the best healthcare systems in the world. We have seen incredible advances in medical treatment, most of them driven by
American research.”
“Of the last ten Nobel Laureates in Medicine, nine have either been American born or naturalized Americans doing their work and their research in American institutions.”
“The life expectancy of the average American continues to rise, as it has for decades. To me, this says that, despite concern over nutrition, about environment, and, of course, about the state of our
healthcare system, in the end, we must be doing something right. In fact, we must be doing many things right.”
“The affordability of medical care is another issue. Here, we
face challenges, and those challenges go beyond the basic question of how an individual pays for medical treatment. To truly look at healthcare
affordability, we have to consider not only the need to supply healthcare to our citizens, but also how to provide the best medial care possible in our rural hospitals, how to make sure that Veterans receive the treatment they deserve at a cost we can afford, and, without a doubt, how to insure that Medicare remains a viable option for our senior citizens.”
“One of my goals, both as a candidate for Congress and, if I am fortunate enough to earn the position, as Congressman will be to lay out the principles any healthcare reform should follow. Over the days to come, you will hear more from me on these issues and I look forward to the public debate that I hope will follow.”
Thompson Talks Taxes
Bellefonte – Glenn Thompson, candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania’s Fifth District, took the opportunity at an appearance in Franklin, Pennsylvania on Friday, September 12, to elaborate on his position regarding federal tax policy.
“I am a strong supporter of what some call the Bush tax cuts, but which I prefer to call our tax cuts – because I believe that what we earn is ours and that the ultimate goal of government should be to give people the chance to keep as much as possible of the money they earn.”
“In the aftermath of the attacks on September 11, 2001, most economists expected the United States to lapse into serious recession, if not outright depression – and no wonder. Our financial center had been badly damaged and we were left with immense bills over the months to come, as we tried to cope with the imminent threat of terrorism.”
“But instead, we saw growth and expansion. I credit two things for this. One is the undying persistence and simple hard work of the average American. The other is the help provided by the so–called Bush tax cuts. Put simply, they were exactly what we needed.”
“When Senator Obama speaks of repeal, I am concerned, because the specter of big government frightens me, and because I believe we need lower tax rates now more than ever, to keep our economy moving in the face of new and unprecedented challenges.”
“I am also concerned that Senator Obama, like so many in Washington, see government with blinders on – federal taxes do not take place in a vacuum. When the federal government cut taxes, an unfortunate number of states and localities saw it as an opportunity to increase fees and taxes at their level. Remember, in Pennsylvania, the state income tax alone was increased by almost ten percent. We know too well how property taxes have increased in the same period.”
“If those tax cuts are repealed, it will not be a simple return to conditions eight years ago; it will be high federal tax rates combined with record high taxes at the state and local level. Americans cannot afford this.”
“That is why I am pledged to support making those tax cuts permanent, and I am also pledged to support efforts to take into account all levels of taxation, including government imposed fees, when we discuss Washington tax policy. I believe that we deserve better government, not higher taxes.”
Thompson Reacts to Federal Highway Decision on I-80
Warren – Glenn Thompson, candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania’s Fifth District spoke from Warren, PA today in reaction to news that the Federal Highway Administration had rejected the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission request to impose tolls on Interstate 80.
“I am thrilled, literally thrilled by this news,” Thompson said. ”I commend Secretary Peters for making the right call on this, and I want to express my personal gratitude to Congressman John Peterson and Congressman Phil English who led the fight on this at the federal level, and to the hundreds of people up and down the I-80 Corridor who would not give up when faced with catastrophic state legislation. I especially want to thank the many Chambers of Commerce who led the way in organizing our opposition, and local leaders like Mayor John Stroup of Clarion, who would not be silenced in his opposition. I am particularly happy to note that decision is final, that it cannot be appealed, and that no re-submission is permitted – which means that this issue has now been completely put to rest.”
“I believe that the imposition of tolls would have devastated the economies of Northwest and Northcentral Pennsylvania. I am grateful that the Federal Highway Administration agreed.”
“The next step, I believe, is that we must now address the problems in our transportation infrastructure and some of the other problems that this effort toward tolling has revealed.”
“First, I believe it is necessary and I urge our state leadership to begin at once to examine the operations and structure of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. Surely there are more efficient and effective ways to handle our existing toll road, and the savings may well be of such a magnitude as to address some of our other transportation challenges.”
“Second, we need to address those challenges. We need to stop diverting money into the general operating budget of the state from the Pennsylvania road and Bridge Fund. Highway money should be spent on highways. We need to focus federal dollars where they are needed – on the roads and bridges that are most in need of repair – not in those areas where the most powerful Congressmen happen to live, or where they happen to take an interest.”
“Finally, while Pennsylvania has done well in the federal highway funding process – we currently receive about $1.15 for every $1 in tax money we spend – we should not assume that we cannot do better.”
“Pennsylvania has greater transportation challenges than any other state. As Congressman, if elected, I will do my best to see that Washington recognizes that fact, and that the federal government develops a working partnership with our state and local officials, to see that our transportation needs are addressed.”
In Remembrance of Our Fallen Heroes by Glenn Thompson
On this, the seventh anniversary of the cowardly attack on American citizens in New York City and Arlington, Virginia, it is only fitting that we pause in the work of an election campaign to remember those men and women who lost their lives in that terrible attack.
We remember the firefighters, police and emergency services personnel that placed themselves in harms way that day to serve their fellow man. These brave souls ran into the towers as others were fleeing. Duty called and they responded without hesitation or regret. Many never left as they provided their greatest sacrifice when the towers collapsed.
We must remember, too, those who died in the fields of Southwestern Pennsylvania on Flight 93, ending their heroic struggle to take back their aircraft and prevent our enemies from causing even more deaths and from taking even more parents from their children and their families.
This is also a fitting time to remember the sacrifices of those men and women in our armed services who have been living, dying, and battling on our behalf against the forces of terrorism around the world.
I believe it is important today, too, that we pledge ourselves to continue the struggle against terrorism, all of us, elected officials, private citizens, people of all political parties, until the world is safe again, and the insanity of terrorist attack is forever behind us.
America has fought great battles in the past. We have defeated many enemies, some of them equally committed to worldwide destruction and worldwide domination. These terrorists are nothing new. Their goals are old and familiar to us. We defeated them in Nazi Germany, we defeated them in militaristic Japan, and we will defeat them throughout the world today. Terrorism is nothing more than fascism, by another name.
America stands for freedom in the world. To this day, our commitment to individual liberty and political self-determination remains the most revolutionary force ever set loose on the face of the globe. We will not step back from the challenges of today. We will fight terrorism wherever it exists and we will not be discouraged from our task by acts of suicidal evil.
To those who have lost loved ones in this War on Terror, we will keep you in our prayers, today and everyday, and we will do everything we can to see that their lives were not lived nor lost in vain, and that the loss you suffered will teach us the lessons and renew in us the dedication to see that your fellow citizens are spared such brutal harm in the days and years to come. To you, we pledge our faith and efforts that your loved ones will never be forgotten, and that the barbarians will be kept forever off our shores.
Glenn Thompson Reiterates Opposition to I-80 Tolls
Bellefonte, PA – After two days touring communities along the Interstate 80 Corridor, Glenn Thompson, candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania’s Fifth District, took the opportunity to express his continued opposition to the state’s plan to impose tolls.
“I appreciate the time Mayor John Stroup of Clarion spent with me and I have come away with a renewed understanding of just how devastating this toll plan is. I have seen first hand the companies that would be affected and I have met the people who will lose their jobs if this plan is allowed to move forward.”
Thompson spent all day Monday examining the industries and communities of Clarion County, and all of Tuesday making the same study of Jefferson County.
“What the state fails to understand,” Thompson said, “is that these communities have spent forty years developing a business model that relies on free access to a major highway. Massive amounts of private money, along with equally large amounts of federal, state, and local dollars have gone into the development of industrial parks and businesses based entirely on interstate access. This is not the Turnpike, where different models have been used, over the same period of time, based on tolled transportation.”
“Tolling would devastate these communities and it would close businesses built on reliance that the state and federal governments would keep their word that access would always be free. Further, I do not accept the distinction the state offers, that tolls are not taxes. When, at the end of the day, people have less money in their pockets and governments have more, that’s a tax, call it what you will. In Northwest Pennsylvania, we do not need more taxes.”
Thompson has spent the last year working against tolling in the Centre County region, and has made that position an integral part of his Congressional campaign.
“The Federal Highway Administration has the last word on this and I plan to do whatever is in my power to influence the decision. We do not need a whole new layer of taxation in the Fifth District. The economy is challenging enough already.”
Glenn Thompson Reacts to Fannie Mae Takeover
Clarion, PA – Glenn Thompson, campaigning in Clarion on Monday, September 8th, spoke in reaction to news that the federal government has moved to take control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, combined owners or guarantors of half the outstanding mortgages in the United States.
“I congratulate Secretary Paulson on his bold move and certainly hope that this does, in fact, begin to stem the real estate crisis in the United States. Any move that lessens uncertainty should help bring about a much-needed recovery.”
“I am, however, saddened that the situation has come to this. Several years ago, in 2005, Republican members of Congress asked serious questions about the health and management of Fannie Mae. While some changes resulted, the dominant partisan politics that has ruled Washington for too long blocked more in-depth inquiries. We are left to wonder if a less partisan response to Republican concerns might have lessened today’s real estate crash.”
In 2005, Republican questions about the operations of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac resulted in management changes. The overall operations of the two government sponsored entities remained unchanged. While both Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are private stock companies, they were established by the federal government to broaden American home-ownership and remained closely associated with Congressional policy until today's takeover.
“I must also express concern,” Thompson said, “for the shareholders of these two companies. Many in government have insisted that the shareholders must shoulder the losses that will inevitably result from this takeover and clearly that is what will now happen. We must remember that the aura of government assurance that surrounded these two corporations has led innumerable Americans to invest retirement dollars in their shares, either directly or through mutual funds. Our senior citizens will be hurt as a result, and at least in part, they will be hurt because our Congress has provided tacit assurance that these were safe and well-run companies.”
The move toward takeover is expected to stabilize a mortgage market that is currently approaching a tenth of all outstanding loans to tumble into default.
“I sincerely hope and plan to work myself to see that this move does, in fact, slow the crisis in home ownership,” Thompson continued. “I also hope to see that the damage done to senior citizens and to retirement savings can somehow be minimized. Most of all, however, I hope we have learned some lessons about the dangers of over-involvement of government in private enterprise, and that we do better in the future.”
Glenn Thompson Kicks Off Fall Campaign
Bellefonte, Pa – Glenn Thompson recently unveiled the new Glenn Thompson for Congress headquarters to kick off his fall campaign to represent Pennsylvania’s 5th Congressional District.Located at 122 South Allegheny Street in historic Downtown Bellefonte, the office will be staffed by campaign workers and volunteers until Election Day on November 4th.
“It is very important that voters in the 5th district get to meet and learn who they are voting for,” said Thompson. “I’m getting out and meeting as many folks as I can, but it’s great to have a place where they can contact me, as well.”
Thompson attended parades, fairs, festivals, and picnics in all 17 counties across the fifth district this summer, traveling tens of thousands of miles. His travel plans do not appear to be letting up after Labor Day.
“I plan to be in every single county in the fifth district as much as I can until November. I am not only campaigning to be your next Congressman, but preparing myself for the job by meeting people and listening to their concerns,” explained Thompson. “There have been dozens of events that I have been invited to, but if I feel like I’m not in a certain part of this district enough, I will be making the time to stop there and introduce myself.”
In addition to the new campaign headquarters, Glenn Thompson’s website also has a new look. It can be seen at www.glennthompson2008.com
Thompson visits County Fairs
It has been a busy summer for Glenn Thompson as he has traveled to every corner of the 17 county Fifth District to take part in the age-old Pennsylvania tradition of the County Fair.
Fair season started in July with the Lycoming County fair. Glenn toured the fairgrounds in Hughesville with Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Tom Corbett.
Next up was the Jefferson County Fair in Brockway, where local Republican Party chairman Troy Harper showed Glenn all that Jefferson County farmers, retailers, and craftsman had to offer. Glenn topped off his day in Brockway by buying a pig at their annual livestock auction.
Clarion County had their fair at the Redbank Valley Municipal Park in Alcola the next week. Glenn spent a day to meet with local merchants and fairgoers, and took time to meet with Republican supporters at their impressive tent.
The following week, Potter and Clearfield Counties had their fairs. After spending some time in Pennsylvania’s great Northern Tier, Glenn traveled to the Borough of Clearfield for the Clearfield County Fair, well-known for their big-name acts and tractor pulls. While Glenn didn’t have a chance to see any concerts, he did enjoy his time meeting with the residents, who were hospitable as always.
Entering the first full week of August, Pennsylvania’s Fifth District boasts a total of eight fairs! Glenn started out Sunday by visiting his great supporters at the Clinton County Fair. Republican Chairman Kurt Smith and PA House candidate Bud Yost enthusiastically welcomed Glenn to Mill Hall, where the people of Clinton County gave Glenn the warm reception he has always enjoyed there. Local supporter Craig Seasholtz even designed a special “Soup Up Your Congress” GT t-shirt for Glenn’s campaign (pictured).
Next up, Glenn visited Reedsville for the Mifflin County Youth Fair. Thompson Campaign Mifflin County Coordinator Nick Soccio and GOP Chair Nelson Reiffennacht introduced Glenn and his wife Penny to many local voters.
The following day, Glenn took the opportunity to travel with his son, Logan, who is on leave from the Army after returning from his tour in Iraq. Glenn and Logan first traveled to Pittsfield for the first day of the Warren County Fair. Glenn was a guest of Commissioner John Bortz and Representative Kathy Rapp for the annual legislative luncheon to kick off the fair. Glenn then had the pleasure of visiting with local dairy farmers, getting a good look at all of the impressive livestock Warren County had to offer. Representative Rapp and local Farm Bureau representative J.R. Proper took the time to introduce everyone who puts on this tremendous fair, as well.
After the Warren Fair, Glenn and Logan traveled to Fox Township for the Elk County Fair. Glenn and Logan met with a local organization of Vietnam Veterans. Mayor James Martin of Ridgway and Glenn discussed the rigors of running for public office and went on to view the crowning of the new Dairy Princess.
Glenn and Logan topped off their day with a stop in Emporium for the Cameron County Fair. The fairgrounds were not affected by the borough-wide power outage that greeted them as they entered town, but it is doubtful that the fairgoers would have cared anyway. Their infectious enthusiasm kept Glenn and Logan in high spirits despite a long day of traveling. Republican Chairman Ron Hammersly took the time to chat with Glenn and introduced him to many of the local residents.
That’s all for now, but there are many events yet to come. Glenn will be visiting the Venango County 4-H Fair on Thursday, the Oil Festival in Titusville for their parade on Saturday, and finally the Tioga County Fair, where local supporter Jeff Quick running a booth for Glenn all week. The McKean and Crawford County fairs are also yet to come, and the last, but certainly not least, fair in the district will be in Glenn’s home county for Centre’s annual Grange Fair.
Response to Congressman Peterson's Endorsement
State College, PA - "These last three days have been awe-inspiring. Having received the endorsement of Congressman Peterson on Friday, and opening an office where volunteers can gather today, our campaign is surging. The outpouring of support that I received over the weekend was a humbling experience, yet only further validates my candidacy as the most job-ready candidate in this race.
"The people of north-central Pennsylvania need a leader in Washington that they can relate to - a Representative of the people, for the people. A representative that shares the same conservative family values. A Representative that will go to Washington and voice the needs and concerns of their constituents, not self interests. Over the next 8 days, as I travel the 5th district with Congressman Peterson, I look forward to meeting with and discussing the challenges facing the residents so I can better serve their needs in Washington.
"Congressman Peterson has served Pennsylvania and the Country with honor and distinction for nearly four decades. I am grateful for his support and endorsement and look forward to following in his footsteps to serve the citizens of Pennsylvania's Fifth Congressional District in Washington."
Crawford County Republican Spring Dinner a Tremendous Success!
Meadville, PA - Congressional Candidate Glenn Thompson kicked off the final weeks of the Primary campaign by joining more than 200 Crawford County Republicans at their annual spring dinner. "This was a big evening for our campaign. My support in Crawford County is very strong thanks to the leadership of Crawford County Republican State Committeeman Terry Stover and County Chair Robyn Sye. Their endorsement of my candidacy is very exciting and appreciated." The Annual Dinner provided an opportunity to meet and talk with 5th District residents from the County.
