Support our Troops
This issue is personal for me. My son, Logan has been in Iraq fighting for us and came home wounded just before Thanksgiving. Having him on the ground has made all the difference in what I know of the war. He would call home when he got a chance and talk about the great successes they were having. He even complained of boredom near the end because the Iraqi guard was taking over so many of the missions. We must finish the war and allow the Iraqi people to thrive in a democratic country. The peace that we are helping to accomplish and maintain can be a stabilizing force in that region going forward.
- Equip the troops – Our soldiers are not a political pawn. They must be equipped and maintained at the highest possible level. They are in harm’s way for our safety and should receive the highest level of support possible.
- Let commanders on the ground make command decisions – This war was run by politicians and bureaucrats for too long. Our commanders on the ground have been training for a majority of their lives for this task and are definitely up to it. Let them tell us when it is time to pull out.
- Improve our veterans system – Many times our veterans in our rural communities are forced to travel vast distances to receive needed care. This is unacceptable. We owe the men and women who fought for us a humongous debt and we cannot allow them to slip through the cracks. If we are to remain a free nation we must take care of our brave.
